Victoria has declared a State of Emergency due to coronavirus (COVID-19).
Up to 50 people can attend a funeral in addition to the person leading the funeral and other funeral staff. A funeral held in a private residence will be limited to the members of the household, five attendees, plus the person leading the funeral and other funeral staff.

This section provides information about how deaths are registered in Victoria. Once the death has been registered (usually by the funeral director), you can apply for a Victorian death certificate.
The Australian Death Notification Service allows people to digitally notify multiple organisations that someone has died.
The service validates details about a person who has died against the Australian Death Check (ADC), a system that holds the death registration data recorded by Birth, Deaths and Marriages registries across Australia.
Once matched, users can choose which organisations they wish to notify, and provide their own contact details for any next steps.
