Can I get married online?
No. A marriage must be solemnised in the physical presence of a celebrant and two witnesses.

We have prepared a warm, meaningful and inclusive ceremony. You can personalise your Classic ceremony with your own vows, music and readings.
Includes:
- Celebrant
- Your choice of ceremony room at the Old Treasury Building
- Your choice of ceremony script. Choose from:
- Classic ceremony script, with personalisation if you want; or
- The shorter alternative marriage script
- Commonwealth marriage certificate to take on the day
- Official marriage certificate sent by express post
- Booking administration.

The Old Treasury Building is one of Melbourne’s finest heritage-listed buildings. It dates from 1858-1862. It is in a great location on the edge of Melbourne’s central business district. It is next to popular photo spots like Treasury Gardens and Parliament House.
The Margaret Craig and Thomas Hyde rooms are beautiful ceremony spaces. They feature high ceilings, artwork and flowers by Melbourne event specialist Flowers Vasette.

Legal-only package
Monday to Thursday: $380
The legal-only package completes all the legal requirements for marriage. It is ideal for couples who don’t want the fuss of a conventional wedding ceremony.
Includes:
- Celebrant
- Commonwealth marriage certificate to take on the day
- Official marriage certificate sent by express post
- Booking administration.

Legal-only marriages are conducted in an office or private room at:

East Melbourne.
Guests
Our legal-only ceremonies are limited to:
- The couple, and
- Your 2 witnesses.
The four-person limit does not include:
- Our celebrant
- A professional photographer, and
- An interpreter (if required).
Witnesses
The law requires you to bring two witnesses. Learn about the requirements for witnesses.
If you do not provide witnesses, your ceremony will not go ahead. No refund will be provided.
Interpreters
All ceremonies are in English. If either of the couple or witnesses do not speak or understand English, you must provide your own interpreter.
