1. Get certified copies of your documents
When we ask you for documents, please check whether we've asked for them to be certified copies. For these documents, we can only accept copies of documents that:
- Have been certified by authorised people. Check the rules about who can certify documents (External link)
- Are current or dated within the last 12 months.
If we've asked for certified copies, don't upload uncertified copies. We can't accept them, and it will delay your application.
2. Convert paper documents to digital
Scan
You can use a scanner to convert your hard copy documents to electronic files. Refer to your scanner’s instructions.

For example, you may need to move the photo to a shared location if you:
- Took the photo on your phone, but
- Are filling in the form on a computer.
4. Upload the file(s)
To access the upload function:
- Log in to your account
- Locate the 'Upload supporting documents' button beside your application
- Upload certified copies of your documents
Log in to your account (External link)
Common upload problems
- Can’t see your application?
- Can’t locate the ‘upload documents’ button?
Read about Logging in to your account.
Most people find it easiest to upload the files all at once. You can upload more documents later, but there is a limit of 10 files in total.
However, we can’t process your application until we’ve received all required documents.
